In February of 2015, a group of Kansans got together in a Facebook group and began discussing the current state of government in our country.
From there, they began talking about setting up a SuperPAC to run ads taking on selected candidates and other groups like Americans For Prosperity and Club For Growth.
But that was stopped short when the Kansas Ethics Commission said we had to change the name of the group "because they weren't being specific enough about what needed to be 'fixed'".
That turned out to be the best thing that could have happened.
When it hit the news, it forced the Ethics Commission to crack down on other PACs -- including the one of controversial Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.
Our membership doubled in three days.
To keep our good name, we had to embrace our destiny and become a non-profit organization with paid members. That's how we became the It's Time to Fix Stupid Foundation.
In June of 2017, The It's Time to Fix Stupid Foundation became a 501(c)4 non-profit, and It's Time to Fix Stupid became a Federal membership PAC. SuperPAC status will follow as soon as we qualify.
Today, we have members in 19 states... prospective chapters in 10 other states--and we continue to grow.
Like the old folk song says, "there's always room for one more".
